It was a battle of Region One rivals in the ND Division B Boys Basketball State Tournament’s 7th Place contest between LaMoure-Litchville/Marion and Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier. Both teams had stretches of success, but it was the Loboes that would ultimately prevail Saturday, 59-55.
Both teams exchanged the lead multiple times throughout the game. Both teams also had leads of at least six points. The Loboes had a two-point lead with less than 13 seconds remaining. The Rebels had a chance to tie or take the lead on the very next possession, but a massive block and steal by Max Musland gave the ball back to the Loboes. Musland was fouled, sinking two free throws to seal the 7th place finish for the Loboes.
Musland dominated, scoring 22 of the Loboes 26 second half points and finishing with a tournament single-game high 36. Jacob Nitschke led the Rebels with 19. Austin Strobel also reached double figures in the loss with 13.
LaMoure-Litchville/Marion finishes the season with a 17-12 record and 7th place finish. Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier finishes in 8th with a record of 22-6.
