Westhope/Newburg scored a combined 32 points in the first three quarters of their ND Division B Boys Basketball State Tournament Semifinal against Bowman County Friday. The Sioux poured in 31 in the fourth in a come-from-behind 63-61 victory over the Bulldogs.
The first half was tight, with Bowman County leading by just three at the half. The Bulldogs owned the third quarter, outscoring the Sioux 20-8 to stretch the lead to 15. The Sioux shot a blistering 73% from the field, making three three-pointers and six free-throws in the final eight minutes to advance to Saturday night’s championship.
Walker Braaten posted his second double-double of the tournament, with 26 points and 10 rebounds. Braden Bailey and Hunter Tolstad also reached double figures for the Sioux with 13 and 11 respectively. Bohden Duffield scored a tournament single-game high 35 points. Twin brother, Bishop, added 15 in the loss.
