Thompson showed why it is the top seed in the North Dakota Class B Girls State Basketball Tournament as the Tommies defeated Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier 66-43 in the tournament quarterfinals Thursday in Minot.

The Tommies made 52.1% of their shots and outrebounded the Rebels 33-22.  Freshman Addison Sage came off the bench to score 20 points to lead Thompson, including four three point baskets.  Clara Stevens added 13 points for the Tommies, Olivia Dick 12 and Kya Hurst ten.  Hurst also had a team-high nine rebounds as the Tommies won their sixth in a row and improve to 23-2 on the season.

Mataeya Mathern had 15 points and eight rebounds for EKM.  The Rebels move on to the consolation round Friday afternoon against Kenmare-Bowbells.

Thompson will face Garrison in the semifinals Friday night at 8:15.
