After leading by one point at halftime, Rugby took charge late in the third quarter on their way to a 67-48 victory over Langdon Area-Edmore-Munich Thursday in the North Dakota Class B State Girls Basketball Tournament at Minot State University.
Rugby went on a 31-11 run late in the third quarter until the game’s end as the Panthers made 62% of their shots and outrebounded the Cardinals 26-20.
Mykell Heidelbaugh and Joey Wolf scored 16 points apiece to lead Rugby, who improves to 22-2 on the season and goes on to face Central Cass Friday night in the semifinals.
Cora Badding scored 18 points for Langdon Area-Edmore-Munich. The Cardinals are now 19-6 and will play Bowman County Friday afternoon in the consolation round.
