North Star at Hillsboro-Central Valley

The Hillsboro/Central Valley boys basketball team was in need of a bounce-back game after a tough loss to Grafton Tuesday night. Their competition was once again daunting, as they welcomed the undefeated ND Division B #2 North Star Bearcats to Buxton Friday night. The Burros earned redemption from last year’s lopsided setback in Cando, rolling from start to finish with a 74-44 victory.

The home team wasted no time, getting out to a 7-0 run and leading 23-9 by the end of the first quarter. Their lead was 39-18 at the end of the first half, 57-31 at the end of the third quarter, and finishing with that 74-44 final. Landon Olson led the ten Burro scorers, tallying a double-double 24 points and ten rebounds. Dane Hagler led the Bearcats with 26 points. HCV improves to 5-6 on the year, and in doing so, hands North Star their first loss of the year. The 13-1 Bearcats continue their road swing at North Prairie on Tuesday. The Burros will look to win back-to-back games for the first time in 2024 as they are at May-Port-C-G, also on Tuesday.
