Northern Lakes vs. Mankato West

The season came to a close for the Northern Lakes Lightning in a 4-1 loss in the State Class A Consolation Semifinal to Mankato West.

The Lightning outshot the Scarlets 39-25 but failed to find the back of the net with numerous opportunities. Senior Damon John stopped 21 shots and Kyler Rikala scored the only goal for the Lightning.

After a scoreless first, Rikala tallied the first goal of the contest 7:12 into the second period on a power play. Mankato West responded with two power goals of their own, with the eventual game winner coming with only 32 seconds remaining in the period.

Northern Lakes finishes the season at 17-12-1 and will graduate six seniors.
