Northern Lakes at St Cloud Cathedral

St Cloud, MN –  The Northern Lakes Lightning travelled to St Cloud to take on the St Cloud Crush in round 2 of the Section 6A playoffs in girl’s hockey on Monday night. The scoring began with 7:57 remaining in the first period on a glove side snipe by Reese Ruska of St Cloud, with the first period ending with a St Cloud lead over Northern Lakes 1-0. St Cloud appeared to kick it into high gear in the 2nd period, with the Crush netting three goals in that period to extend their lead to four. The scoring in the second period onslaught came from Liz Bell, Reese Ruska, and Reeghan Stevens. The St Cloud Crush took that lead and ran away with it, closing out the Northern Lakes Lightning by a final score of 6-0, to end the Lightning season. Reese Ruska received player of the game honors with two total goals, and right winger Ella Gebhardt had an eye popping four assists, assisting on all but two of St Cloud’s goals. The St Cloud Crush will take on Fergus Falls in the section 6a finals on Thursday in Alexandria, puck drop set for 7:00 pm.
