Northern Cass 18, Oakes 6

Hudson Rietschel passed for two touchdowns and ran for a third as Northern Cass defeated Oakes 18-6 Friday on Homecoming night at Northern Cass.

The Jaguars’ Matthew Hoppe rushed 29 times for 173 yards and caught 4 passes for 116, including a 76 yard catch and run on the first play of the fourth quarter that gave the Jaguars a 12-6 lead.

Rietschel had thrown a 26 yard TD pass to Matthew Metzger with 8:03 to go in the third quarter that tied the game 6-6.  Then with 3:29 to play, Rietschel scored on a 3 yard run that sealed the Jaguars’ victory. The sophomore completed 10 of 14 passes for 180 yards and 2 TDs, while running 5 times for 15 yards and a score.

After a scoreless first quarter, Carter Ptacek ran 4 yards to give Oakes a 6-0 lead with 2:58 to play in the first half.

Oakes (0-3, 0-2) starts a four game home stand next Friday against Thompson.

Northern Cass (3-1, 1-1) travels to Lisbon next Friday.
