Thompson’s 4 year run as North Dakota State Class B Baseball champions came to an end Friday.
Park River Area beat Thompson 9-1 in the Class B semifinals in Jamestown. The Tommies will play Velva-Drake-Anamoose for third place Saturday afternoon.
Park River Area pitcher Jaxon Omdahl allowed just 2 hits with 3 walks and 11 strikeouts. The Aggies took advantage of 11 walks by Thompson pitching as they jumped to a 7-0 lead after 2 innings.
Eli Gemmill took the loss for Thompson (18-8). In one inning he allowed one hit, 5 runs, 5 walks and 2 strikeouts. Kaden Loiland and Grady Hurst had the Tommies’ 2 hits.
Kindred 12, Velva-Drake-Annamoose 0 (5 innings)
Kindred advanced to the Class B State baseball title game Friday with a 12-0 win over Velva-Drake-Anamoose in the semifinals in Jamestown.
Fisher Johnson allowed 3 hits with a walk and 5 strikeouts. He also drove in 2 runs with a third inning double.
The Vikings scored in bunches: 2 in the first inning, 4 in the second, 3 in the third and 3 in the fourth. Beside their 10 hits, Kindred took advantage of 5 wild pitches and 2 errors. Carson Gette drove in 2 runs, while Brady Baumgarten, Jackson Schliemann and Max Bernie all had 2 hits apiece.
Mason Kraft took the loss for the Aggies (26-7). In 1 2/3 innings, he gave up 7 hits, 6 runs and 2 walks with no strikeouts.
