Preview
Big first innings were the key in the doubleheader sweep for Parkers Prairie over Pillager in Park Region play.
The Panthers’ first four batters walked to start game 1, then the hits started as they brought 18 batters to the plate in a 13-run barrage. Down 16-0, Pillager scored all three of their runs in the bottom of the 3rd, but the hole was far too deep in a 17-3 victory for Parkers Prairie. Sydney Lorine notched the win while Hailey Hanson took the loss for the Huskies. Lily Steidl was 3-3 with 2 RBI while Amelia VanBatavia and Alyssa Revering each had two hits and three RBI for the Panthers. Kiah Dumpprope had a 2-run single for Pillager.
In game two, with Parkers Prairie the home team, it was a 7-run opening frame that pushed them out to an early cushion. The Panthers scored in each of their four innings at the plate, while Revering held down the Pillager offense to just one run on three hits in an 11-1 win. Steidl and Anna Helling each had two RBI for Parkers Prairie, who has swept the Park Region series against Pillager for four straight years.
Kailey Holsapple started and took the loss for the Huskies. Sophia Schrom drove in Layla Fussy for the lone Pillager run.
Parkers Prairie is now 11-2 (10-2 PRC) while the Huskies fall to 5-12 (3-9).
