Pequot Lakes at Albany

Despite many short fields and being plus three in turnover margin, the Pequot Lakes Patriots suffered another close loss 20-19 vs. Albany at TCO Stadium in Eagan.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Patriots scored on three straight possessions starting in Albany territory after turnovers. Tanner Jasman punched a touchdown in from a yard out, followed by a Lucas Martin 33 yard field goal and a Jasman touchdown catch from Eli Martini. Down 16-0, Albany’s Judah Allen responded by returning the ensuing kickoff 97 yards to put the Huskies on the board and the half would end with the Patriots up 16-6.
Albany scored the lone touchdown of the third quarter on a 1-yard score from Connor Plumski that capped off a 70-yard drive. In the fourth, Pequot Lakes was gifted another short field after a Husky fumble, but settled for another Martin field goal from 24 yards out. A pooch kick that was short gave Albany the ball at mid field and they took advantage. Cohen Habben found a seam for a 31-yard run with 2:46 to go and the extra point made the difference.
The Patriot’s last two chances ended with interceptions. Albany committed six turnovers to the Patriots’ three and escaped with the one-point win. Pequot Lakes starts the season 0-2, the first time that’s happened since the 2022 season.
