Pequot Lakes at Foley
Preview
Pequot Lakes swept Foley to notch their first two Granite Ridge Conference wins in the 2025 season, while improving their lead in the series against the Falcons to 5-0.
Foley outhit the Patriots in each game, but fielding errors and walked proved costly for the Falcons.
The Patriots built a 6-0 lead in the first game and held on for a 6-3 win. Georgia James ripped two doubles and earned an impressive win in the circle, allowing only two earned runs on 11 hits, no walks and seven strikeouts. The Patriots managed six hits versus Foley pitcher Josi Pozorski and took advantage of five walks and three Falcons errors.
Foley grabbed an early 3-0 lead in the game two as the first four batters all reached to begin the game. After two innings, Foley lead 4-1. With James again in the circle for Pequot Lakes, a Foley walk to begin the third prompted a change and eighth grader Lydia Allyn took over. She was able to shut out the Falcons despite six hits as who only walked one batter and struck out eight. The Patriots’ rally was aided again by miscues by Foley. Pequot Lakes scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth with one hit, three walks and four Foley errors. The Patriots were outhit 12-4 but came away with the win. Taryn Tjaden had a big RBI single in the fourth and scored.
With the wins, Pequot Lakes is now 4-6 on the season, 2-3 in the GRC.
