Pequot Lakes at Grand Rapids

The Pequot Lakes Patriots capped off an undefeated regular season by rolling up 500 yards in their road victory over Grand Rapids.

The Thunderhawks answered and challenged the Patriots for most of the first half as the teams traded big plays and scores. The Patriots scored on their opening drive and got a three and out on the defensive side. A Grand Rapids interception set them up with a short field and they settled for a field goal. Both teams found the end zone on their next two drives, and then Pequot Lakes intercepted a pass the helped them pull away for a 34-17 halftime lead.

The Patriots defense stayed stiff as they shutout the Thunderhawks in the second half while putting in two more scores and winning 46-17.

Michael Oseland was 10/13 passing for 196 yards, 2 touchdowns and the pick. Bryan Nordby caught five passes for 111 yards and two scores while rushing for two touchdowns as well. John Paul Elsenpeter broke loose for 185 yards on 19 carries and three scores.

The Patriots will have the #1 seed in the 7AAA playoffs at 8-0, with their first section game in the semifinal round on Saturday 10/26. Grand Rapids finishes the regular season at 5-3.
