FB Perham at Hawley
Alex Blume ran for a touchdown, passed for a score and intercepted two passes on defense to lead Perham (1-0) to a 14-12 victory over Hawley (0-1) Friday night in Hawley.
Blume ran for a one yard TD with 3:49 to go in the first quarter, then passed to Tyrus Coudron for a two point conversion to give the Yellowjackets a 8-0 lead.
In the second quarter, Blume intercepted two passes to thwart Hawley drives. But the Nuggets got on the board with 0:24 to go in the first half when quarterback Noah Nelson scored on an 18 yard run. But Hawley’s two point conversion failed, leaving Perham in front 8-6 at intermission.
The score held until the fourth quarter, when Hawley drove 90 yards in 13 plays for the go-ahead score when Nelson scored on a one yard run. The two point conversion failed, but the Nuggets led 12-8 with 2:05 to play.
Perham took the ensuing kickoff and drove 70 yards in four plays to regain the lead. Blume connected with Ashton Detloff on a 17 yard pass with 1:21 to play. The conversion failed to put the Yellowjackets back in front 14-12. A final Hawley drive fizzled out at midfield.
Blume rushed 12 times for 31 yards and a TD and hit 11 of 19 passes for 146 yards and a score. Perham also took advantage of four Hawley turnovers.
Hawley’s Noah Nelson was 10 of 19 in the air for 169 yards with two interceptions. The senior also ran 21 times for 81 yards and a touchdown.
