Perham 0 at Hawley 3 (25-13, 25-8, 25-21)
Hawley used strong serving and a pair of double digit runs to sweep Perham 3 sets to none in the Section 8AA volleyball quarterfinals Friday night in Hawley.
Hawley went on an 11-0 run in the opening set en route to a 25-13 win. Katie Vetter had 4 kills in that run and Annaka Johnson served 3 aces.
In set 2, the Nuggets scored 10 consecutive points to move to a 17-4 advantage and they went on to win set 2 25-8. Audrina Liebenow had 3 kills and Sella Fleming 2 in that 10 point burst.
Perham jumped to a 5-0 start in the third set, and Hawley fought back to tie it at 16. Fleming had 2 aces down the stretch, Ingrid Rustad notched 3 kills and Vetter 2 as the Nuggets completed the sweep 25-21.
Vetter led Hawley (24-5) with 15 kills. Rustad added 10 along with an ace and one block assist. Johnson had 3 kills, 2.5 blocks and 5 aces Liebenow contributed 7 kills and a block assist.
Greta Raser and Addi Hackel had 5 kills apiece to lead Perham (11-18). Hackel also had 2.5 blocks.
Hawley has now won 11 consecutive games. The Nuggets will face Wadena-Deer Creek in the 8AA semifinals Tuesday night at a time and site to be determined.
