Efficient offense and stingy defense helped Pillager build a 34-15 halftime lead and roll to a 70-40 victory in Aitkin in a Section 7AA matchup.
A 15-0 run boosted the Huskies to a 22-4 lead halfway through the first half. Gabe Parrish come off the bench and knocked down three shots from beyond the arc within the run to spark the Huskies.
Aitkin wasn’t able to muster any comeback, only closing the gap to 16 in the second half before a 9-0 Pillager run pushed the lead to 25 and the Huskies didn’t look back.
The win is the sixth straight for the 9-4 Huskies and gives them a 8-1 series advantage over the Gobblers since the 2016-17 season. Parrish lead the way with 16 while Alex Brandt scored 14 and dished out four assists and Christian Hooge also reached double figures with a dozen.
Aitkin (3-11) was led by Isaac Asmus with a game-high 18 and Cole Troter with eight.
