Pillager at Pierz

For the second straight year, Pierz ended the Pillager Huskies’ season in the first round of the 6AA tournament.

After Pillager shot out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first on a 2-run single by Elliott Imdieke, the Pioneers answered with five in the bottom half to take a lead they would not relinquish. After a two-out error, Pierz connected on four straight run-producing hits for the 5-2 advantage after the first.

The game would go scoreless from that point on until the bottom of the sixth when Pierz put the game away with a four-run burst. A double play in the top of the seventh kept Pillager from picking up any momentum as the Pioneers advance to the double-elimination tournament with the 9-2 win.

Bo Woitalla was 3-4 for the Pioneers and Jackson Thielen set a single season school-record with his 13th double. Elliott Imdieke went 3-3 for Pillager.

Pillager ends the season at 8-13 and will graduate six seniors.
