Pillager at Sebeka
Preview
Park Region Conference rivals squared off again Thursday as the Pillager Huskies (1–2) traveled to Sebeka (1–1) for a rematch of last week’s tight contest, which saw Pillager edge out a 2–1 win at home. This time, it was the Trojans who defended their home turf, using a huge second inning to secure a 12–7 victory.
Sebeka’s offense erupted in the second inning, sending 15 batters to the plate and scoring 11 runs. The rally was sparked by a leadoff single from Kyla Watson and kept rolling with a mix of timely hits and aggressive baserunning.
Zoey Kiser led the way in the circle for the Trojans, pitching a complete game. She held the Huskies scoreless outside of the 3rd, 4th, and 5th innings, striking out six and allowing seven runs on 10 hits and five walks.
Pillager third baseman Hunter Woidyla helped set the tone early, drawing a walk, stealing a base, and finishing 1-for-3 with a sacrifice bunt in the 6th inning. On the mound, Briana Blais started for the Huskies, going two innings and allowing eight runs while striking out two. Haily Hansen came in for relief duty and kept Pillager in the game, giving up just one run and striking out five.
The loss drops Pillager to 1–3, while Sebeka improves to 2–1 with the win.
