Clearbrook-Gonvick at Pine River-Backus
Recap
The PRB Tigers Volleyball team came away with a 3-0 win over the Clearbrook-Gonvick Bears last Thursday night. The Bears put up a good fight in the first set, forcing it to extra points on the backs of hitters Tatum Melby and Allison Lavine. The Tigers would hold on for the first set win, 26-24. The Tigers would pull ahead to an early 10-4 lead in the second set and never lost it, finishing the set 25-14. Tigers Libero Kaitlyn Rilea achieved her 1000th career dig in the third set, prompting a Tigers timeout to celebrate. She was also awarded star of the game for her defensive playmaking. Tigers Callie Norman made some big plays down the stretch en route to winning the third set 25-16 and taking home Enbridge Energy Player of the Game. A dominant 3-0 win for the PRB Tigers who won the momentum battle early and never let go of it, and an educational lesson for a Bears team who struggled to score against a tough Tigers defense.
