Pine River-Backus at Pequot Lakes

Pequot Lakes used a series of mini-runs throughout the first half to build up a 47-22 halftime lead and eventually defeat Highway 371 rival Pine River-Backus 82-46.

After PRB hit a three to start the scoring, the Patriots used multiple 6-0 and 7-0 spurts to methodically push the lead higher and higher through the first eighteen minutes. Mason Lundgren knocked down three 3’s off the bench and was one of three Patriots to have eleven points at the break.

Early in the second half, Pequot Lakes pushed the lead to 30+ and the Tigers simply couldn’t keep up with the firepower of the Patriots.

Tate Norman led PRB with 17. Harrison Kennen was top scorer with 19 for Pequot Lakes, Tollef Birkeland tallied 18 and Lundgren finished with 16.

The win for Pequot Lakes was their seventh straight in the series and improves their record to 7-1. Pine River-Backus falls to 6-4.

Both are back in action Friday night as Pine River-Backus head to Laporte and Pequot Lakes travels to top-ranked Albany in a girls/boys doubleheader on KLKS Talk 100.1.
