Polk County West at Mahnomen-Waubun

Recap

The Mahnomen Waubun defense came up with a big play as the Polk County West offensive was driving late in the game to preserve the win for the Thunderbirds 19-14.  Despite Mahnomen Waubun returning the opening kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown and an early lead Polk County West used a stingy offense that was able to keep the ball for the majority of the first half limiting the Thunderbird offense to just 8 plays compared to the Thunders 36 plays and it also gave PCW a 14-13 halftime lead.  In the 2nd half Mahnomen Waubun was able to use a PCW mistake that would give them a short field resulting in a touchdown to reclaim the lead at 19-14.  As the 4th quarter started Mahnomen Waubun looked like they were driving to extend the lead, but a fumble would give the ball back to PCW.  Their offense would go to work and would drive all the way down the field to the MW 15 with limited time remaining.  Facing a 3rd and 7 PCW would attempt a pass that owuld be intercepted by the Thunderbirds which would preserve the win and keep Mahnomen Waubun undefeated at 6-0 while Polk County West drops to 4-2.
