In his first game as the new head coach of the Northern Lakes Lightning, Mike Randolph became Minnesota hockey’s all-time winningest coach (708 wins) as the Lightning cruised to an 11-0 season-opening win over Prairie Center.
Northern Lakes scored three goals in a span of 4:44 in the first period as all three top line forwards found the net.
The second period brought an onslaught of goals as the Lightning tallied seven goals in the frame, then closed it out with a final goal in the 3rd.
Drew Paulbeck had a seven point night with a hat trick and four assists, while Jacob Peterson notched four goals and a pair of assists.
New goalie Sam Suja needed just 13 saves for the shutout win. Jerome Martin, Huck Balmer, Easton Anderson and Wyatt Balmer also scored for the 1-0 Lightning. It was the 11th straight victory in the series for Northern Lakes.
