Recap

After a disappointing loss on Saturday that snapped their 5-game win streak, the Aitkin Gobblers bounced back in a big way and notched a Section 7AA win over the Proctor Rails 77-46 Monday night.

The Gobblers jumped ahead early with and never looked back with their speed rushing past the Rails. Aitkin also used a 2-to-1 advantage rebounding that aided them into building a 48-24 halftime lead. Proctor also had trouble in the first half with fouls and sent the Gobblers to the line, converting 8-of-17 times.

The second half continued to be a strong showing the Gobblers, shutting down the Rails on the glass on both ends of the floor. Aitkin finished the game out-rebounding Proctor 40-to-19 while also shooting 12-for-23 at the free throw line. The Gobblers got a huge presence on the post with Landon Janzen tallying 25 points and 17 rebounds. Gus Sanford added 16 points and Alex Palm chipped in 11. Kolbin Carter led the Rails with 9 points, all coming in the 2nd half.

Aitkin improves to 9-13 on the season with a road game Tuesday at Pequot Lakes. Proctor falls for the third straight game and will return home to face Moose Lake/Willow River with their 6-18 record.
