Lucy Paulsrud scored as time expired to give Climax-Fisher a 51-49 victory over Red Lake County Central Friday night in Climax.
The Knights trailed 30-13 late in the first half, then rallied to tie the game at 41 on a Paulsrud three pointer with 4:11 to play. Climax-Fisher held a couple of 5 point leads, but Red Lake County Central’s Quinn Graves scored to tie the game at 49 with 58 seconds remaining. The Knights couldn’t get a shot within the 35 second time limit, which gave the ball back to Red Lake County Central with 26.2 seconds to play. The Mustangs’ Alexa Chervestad missed a three point shot with 8.3 seconds remaining and the rebound went out of bounds to Climax-Fisher.
The Knights’ inbound pass was stolen by Natalee Hendrickson, who tried a three, but missed. Brooklyn Hoffman grabbed the rebound and threw a long pass down the court to a wide open Paulsrud, who scored as time expired…giving Climax-Fisher (8-18) the victory.
Paulsrud scored 29 points for the Knights, with Hoffman adding 13. Hendrickson led Red Lake County Central (12-14) with 15 points, with McKaelyn Frizzle scoring 11.
Climax-Fisher outrebounded Red Lake County Central 38-35. The Mustangs committed 11 turnovers to the Knights’ 16. At the free throw line, Climax-Fisher made 5 of 13…and Red Lake County Central made 12 of 19.
