Erskine, MN — The Red Lake County Central Mustangs swept the Win-E-Mac Patriots in three straight sets Tuesday night, 25-21, 25-20, 25-21, improving to 2-1 on the season.

Win-E-Mac came out hot in the opener, using a 7-0 run to grab an 11-7 lead. RLCC quickly responded with a 6-0 surge of their own to go up 13-11 and never looked back, holding the Patriots at arm’s length to take the first set, 25-21.

The Mustangs carried that momentum into set two, racing to a 6-1 start. Win-E-Mac clawed back to within two late, but RLCC’s steady play kept the Patriots from putting together a decisive run. The Mustangs closed it out, 25-20, to go up 2-0.

The third set brought the night’s biggest drama. RLCC built a 17-12 lead, only to watch the Patriots storm back with an 8-2 rally to edge ahead, 20-19. Unshaken, the Mustangs turned up the pressure, unleashing a late surge of six points in seven rallies to seal the sweep, 25-21.

With the victory, RLCC improves to 2-1 and will host Stephen/Argyle on Thursday. Win-E-Mac drops to 1-1 and will return to action Saturday at the Ruth Hayden Tournament of Roses in Ada.
