Red Lake County vs. Sacred Heart

Red Lake Falls, MN — The Red Lake County Rebels scratched and clawed their way to a 4-2 victory over the Sacred Heart Eagles in the West Sub-Section Baseball Championship on Thursday afternoon.
The Rebels were shut out for the first five innings of the game before scoring 3 runs on 3 hits in the top of the sixth inning. Gunnar Halvorson led off the inning reaching first on a drop third strike, Ben Gullingsrud would collect his second hit of the game with a base hit and Keegan Schmitz would keep the line going with a 2 RBI Double to tie the game. Schmitz would then move up to third base on a ground out and would come into score after Sacred Hearts Parker Erickson threw a wild pitch to the back stop and the Rebels would take a 3-2 lead. The Rebels would get an insurance run in the 7th inning to take a 4-2 lead into the bottom of the seventh before sending the Sacred Heart Eagles down in order in the bottom of the 7th.
Red Lake County is the West Sub-Section Champion and both Sacred Heart and Red Lake County will advance into the Section 8A Tournament beginning on Saturday from Bemidji State University.
