Goodridge, MN — The Red Lake Falls Eagles extended their winning streak to nine matches Thursday night with a dominant straight-sets victory over the Goodridge/Grygla Chargers.

The opening set started evenly, with both teams trading points and neither side able to gain a significant edge. Eventually, Red Lake Falls found their rhythm behind a relentless attack led by Shandi Nelson, who recorded eight kills in the first set alone. The Eagles surged ahead 15-7, forcing a Chargers timeout, and never looked back—closing out the set 25-12.

Set two was all Eagles. The first 14 points were tightly contested, resulting in a 7-7 tie, but from there, Red Lake Falls completely took over. A massive 13-0 scoring run blew the set open as the Eagles cruised to a 25-10 win and a 2-0 match lead.

In the third set, Red Lake Falls eased off slightly, allowing Goodridge/Grygla to stay close and even the score at 15-15. The Eagles quickly regrouped, tightening up defensively and finishing strong with a 10-2 run to secure the 25-17 set win and complete the sweep, 3-0.

With the victory, Red Lake Falls improves to 17-5 overall and will compete this Saturday at the Frostbite Tournament in Grygla. The Chargers, now 9-12, will also be in action at the tournament as the host team.
