Region 1 Baseball Tournament Championship – Central Cass vs Northern Cass

Central Cass won their fourth straight Region 1 Baseball Tournament championship on Monday night fending off Northern Cass 4-3 in 8-innings.
Carter Maasjo picked up the win with a complete-game performance, giving up 3 runs (all unearned) on 4 hits, 4 walks and 8 strikeouts.
Central Cass tied the game in the bottom of the seventh inning with a Kam Baarstad RBI single.
Northern Cass answered in the top of the 8th inning when Trey Husar scored from a Carter Wadeson RBI double, giving the Jaguars a 3-2 lead.
The Squirrels answered in the bottom of the eighth with a pair of singles from Brayden Mitchell and Eli Buhr. Buhr stole second base to get into scoring position and with 2 outs Noah Muchow hit a fly ball to right field, which Matthew Metzger lost in the lights allowing Mitchell and Buhr to score on the base hit.
Northern Cass finishes 15-11 overall and Central Cass heads to the State Class B Baseball Tournament in Jamestown on May 30 – June 1.
