Mayport CG 3 Hatton Northwood 2

Despite an early Thunder run the Mayport CG Patriots defeated the Hatton Northwood Thunder 3-2 in the North Dakota Class B Region 2 tournament at Scott Berry Field in Mayville on Saturday afternoon. 

After scoring two runs in the top of the first thanks to a leadoff single by Ander Thorsgard and a costly error the Thunder were up two to zero early. The Hatton Northwood bats went silent the rest of the game accumulating just three hits and two walks over the next six innings. 

Mayport/CG’s Connor Dockter cut the lead in half in the bottom of the second inning, driving in Marshall Kloster with a clutch single. 

After a rocky first inning Mayport/CG’s Marshall Judisch found his groove and tossed six scoreless innings striking out six total Thunder batter’s and walking just two. Judisch’s hot streak continued at the plate going 3-3 and scoring the tying run in the 5th thanks to a go ahead two run single by Walker McGillis. 

Hatton Northwoods Derek Carpenter dueled with Judish throwing a complete game with 3 earned runs and 10 strikeouts.
