Region 2 Girls Basketball Tournament Championship

Thompson ended Grafton’s three year reign as Region 2 girls basketball champions Thursday….as the Tommies beat the Spoilers 49-39 in the Region title game at the University of North Dakota.

Thompson’s defense forced 20 Grafton turnovers and held the Spoilers to 15 first half points.  After the Tommies scored eight straight points to take a 10-4 lead in the first quarter, they never trailed the rest of the game.

Freshman Addison Sage led Thompson with 15 points as the Tommies improve to 22-2 on the season and advance to the State Class B tournament for the first time since 2019.

Ainsley McLain scored 17 to lead Grafton, with teammate Kate LeClerc adding 11 points.  The Spoilers finish the season 16-8.
