RLCC at Bagley

Recap

Bagley, MN – The Flyers soar past the Mustangs and snap their 3 match losing streak winning 3-1 (25-18, 25-19, 15-25, 25-14).

In set one, neither team could find the edge as their were 13 ties. One of those ties was at 18 each, but then Bagley flipped a switch and went into lockdown mode and closed out the set with a dominant 7-0 run to win 25-18.

In the second set, Bagley gave up the first point but brought the momentum with them from the end of the first set and scored 10 straight points to make it 10-1. Red Lake County Central fought back though and got it within 3 late at 20-17, but the Flyers were able to close out the set with a 25-19 win.

In the third set, it was the Mustangs turn for some big runs. The biggest was a 10-2 run midway through the set to take it from 13-11 to 22-13, where they eventually closed out the set and were able to force a 4th set.

In the fourth set, the Flyers wanted to show how dominant they can be. They had a 6-0 run early and then after Red Lake County Central got within 3 at 17-14, they Flyers again closed out with a huge run putting up the last 8 points to take the match 3-1. Mazie Hoie had 5 kills in just the 4th set and the Flyers got 5 of their 13 aces in the final frame as well.

Bagley improves to 11-5 on the season and 8-3 in section 8A. They Flyers will be back in action tomorrow as they travel to Erskine to take on the Win-E-Mac Patriots.

Red Lake County Central falls to 7-10 overall and 4-8 in section 8A. The Mustangs have a week off as their next game isn’t until next Monday when the travel to Blackduck.
