Minneapolis, MN — The Fertile-Beltrami Falcons and the Kingsland Knights battled all game long in the first State 9-Man Football Semi-Final Game of the day from U.S Bank Stadium on Thursday morning.

The first two drives of the game for the Falcons ended in a punt and turnover on downs, while for Kingsland, the Knights scored on their first 3 possessions of the game on rushing touchdowns from Beau Weirsma from 64, 3 and 12 yards. Isaiah Wright had the Falcons only score of the first half with a two yard rushing touchdown. The Falcons went into the locker room trailing 22-6.

Fertile-Beltrami desperately needed a stop as the Knights received the second half kickoff. The Falcons would do just that, forcing the Knights into a turnover downs and a 55 yard touchdown response by Isaiah Wright to make the score 22-14. Beau Wiersama for Kingsland would also answer, as he did all day, with a 47 yard touchdown.

The Falcons would score twice more with Isaiah Wright to get back to a one score game when the Knights would take over on offense. Kingsland had a chance to seal the game and keep the ball in their hands but Caleb Sather for Fertile-Beltrami forced a fumble form Beau Weirsma to give the Falcons offense a change at a game tying drive. Fertile-Beltrami started to possession with just a few minutes left and Bega not move the ball down the field but a pass thrown by Caiden Swenby looking for Derek Sorenson over the middle was intercepted by Kingsland and the Knights would seal the game on the ensuing drive to win 36-28.

Kingsland will take a 13-0 record to the Prep Bowl next Saturday. Fertile-Beltrami ends their season 12-1 and graduate 3 Seniors. (Caiden Swenby, Derek Sorneson and Team Manager, Bjorn Messick)
