Ulen, MN — The NCE/U-H Titans hung on to win a thriller on Monday night over the Lake Park-Audubon Raiders 54-53 to advance to the next round of the Section 6A Girls Basketball Tournament.

The Titans success this season has been predicated on their ability to shoot the basketball at a high rate and the Titans did just that on Monday night as they started the game out leading 11-0. But the Raiders would go on an 11-3 run to make it 14-11 with 4:58 left in the first half. Each team would then heat up offensively with the Titans outscoring the Raiders 14-11 in the final five minutes to take a 28-24 lead into the locker room.

In the second half the Titans terrific shooting continued opening the second half up on  a 10-2 run to take their then largest lead of the game, 38-26. Lake Park-Audubon would stay within striking distance in the second half but at the 9:25 mark things started to look bleak as they would go down 43-30. However, the resilient Raiders struck again with an 8-0 run of their own to get back to within five points with 7:45 remaining. The evenly matched teams duked out the final minutes trading blows but in the end it was NCE/U-H who was able to hang for the 54-53 win.

NCE/U-H will play the top seeded Underwood Rockets in the next round of the Section 6A Girls Basketball Tournament on Thursday at 7pm.
