Section 8A-W Northern Freeze at Red Lake Falls

Red Lake Falls, MN — The Red Lake Falls Eagles defeated the Northern Freeze 3-1 on Wednesday night to advance in the Section 8A Volleyball Tournament.

The Eagles trailed for a good portion of the first set and found themselves down by three points midway through. They would use an 8-0 scoring run however to take a 17-12 lead controlling the set and winning 25-15 to go up 1-0 in the match.

Set two was back and forth in the early stages before Red Lake Falls made another scoring run, this time 7-0 to take an 11-4 lead. From there, the Eagles would hold the Northern Freeze at arms length cruising to a 25-12 set two win and taking control of the match 2-0.

Set three saw the energy from Red Lake Falls come down and the Northern Freeze took advantage. Though it was close on the scoreboard for most of the third game, it never felt like Red Lake Falls had momentum as the Northern Freeze would win 25-19 extending the match and forcing a fourth set.

Set four saw eight ties and five lead changes as the Northern Freeze battled in an attempt to force a fifth game. But Red Lake Falls would take the lead for good at 18-17 and close it out 25-20 to win the match 3-1.

With the win Red Lake Falls is now 23-6 on the season and will make the trek north to Hallock to do battle with the Kittson County Central Bearcats on Friday evening. (Gold 101.5 FM KRJM) The Northern Freeze end their season 12-16 and will graduate eight seniors.
