6AA 1st Round: #11 Staples-Motley at #6 Pequot Lakes

Georgia James threw a 3-hitter and went 3-4 at the plate in helping lead the 6th-seeded Pequot Lakes Patriots past #11-seed Staples-Motley 7-0 to open up the 6AA tournament.

Pequot Lakes scored in five of the six innings they came to the plate, with their first five runs all plated with two outs in the innings. Avery Gorr smacked a 2-run single to highlight their 3-run first. The Patriots methodically pulled away with single runs in the 2nd, 4th, 5th and 6th innings.

June Ruud reached base and scored three times and Clare Foote reached three times and scored twice as the Patriots outhit the Cardinals 9-3.

James struck out four while only walking one in the victory, which was the 23rd straight for Pequot Lakes in the series.

Pequot Lakes advances to the 6AA double elimination tournament in Waite Park at 10-10, and the Cardinals finish their season at 8-13.
