Staples-Motley at Pillager

The Pillager Huskies walked off the Staples-Motley Cardinals 12-11 “Under the Lights” for their eighth straight win in the series.

Down 6-2, Pillager tied the game at 6 in the bottom of the fourth, then took an 8-6 lead into the sixth. The Cardinals pushed across five in the top of the sixth to go up 11-8. Pillager scored twice in the bottom of the frame to cut the lead to one heading into the seventh.

Staples-Motley twice was thrown out on the bases in the top of the seventh to keep the score at 11-10. In the bottom of the seventh, Audri Hollingsworth walked to lead off for Pillager. Alizza Klein was then hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second. Bailey Rudrud singled to center scoring Hollingsworth tying the game, then Gracelynn Featherstone followed with an RBI single to center to bring across Klein for the 12-11 win.

Hailey Hanson picked up the win for the Huskies while Addy Potter took the loss in relief for the Cardinals. Pillager took advantage of 10 walks and six errors committed by S-M.

The Huskies improved to 7-12 while the Cardinals fell to 6-10.
