Park River Area 10, Northern Cass 1 ND Class B Baseball 3rd Place
Park River Area scored 9 runs in the sixth inning to defeat Northern Cass 10-1 Saturday for third place in the North Dakota Class B State Baseball Tournament in Fargo.
The Jaguars opened the scoring in the third inning when Matthew Metzger was hit by a pitch, stole second, advanced to third on a single by Jacob Ose and scored on a squeeze bunt by Carter Wadeson.
Park River Area tied it in the bottom of the fifth when James Larson singled home a run. Then in the bottom of the sixth, the Aggies broke the game open, using 8 hits, 2 walks and 2 errors to plate 9 runs and go in front 10-1.
Tucker Omdahl pitched a complete game 5-hitter for Park River Area (22-4). He gave up one run with 8 strikeouts and 2 hit batters. The Aggies’ Trace Anderson was 2 for 4 with 2 rbi. Omdahl also had 2 hits and an rbi.
Ose took the loss for Northern Cass (20-3) in relief of starting pitcher Metzger. In an inning and a third, Ose allowed 4 hits, 5 runs, 2 walks and a wild pitch with 2 strikeouts. Ose and Sam Klemen had 2 hits apiece for the Jaguars.
Following the Class B State Championship game, Northern Cass’s Trey Husar was named Senior Athlete of the Year for Class B Baseball.
