Fosston, MN — The Fosston Greyhounds improved to 3-1 Friday night with a gritty 26‑21 victory over the Stephen‑Argyle Storm, overcoming a shaky start and delivering a composed second‑half surge.

Stephen‑Argyle struck immediately, as running back Kellen Johnson took his first carry 58 yards to the end zone for a quick 7‑0 lead. Fosston’s opening possession ended in a punt, but momentum briefly swung when Berkley Landsverk intercepted a Storm pass. The Greyhounds couldn’t capitalize, though, and a second stalled drive turned costly when a high snap on the punt set up Stephen‑Argyle at the Fosston 39. Zavien Martinez finished the short field with a 5‑yard touchdown, extending the Storm advantage to 13‑0.

Fosston finally found rhythm on its fourth possession, grinding nearly six minutes off the clock before Brydin Daniel powered in from three yards out. The Greyhounds defense tightened from there, shutting down the Storm for the remainder of the half. Fosston turned that defensive stand into points, as Noah Martinson connected with Ellis Wiener on a 19‑yard touchdown strike. Stephen‑Argyle’s early cushion had evaporated, and they led just 13‑12 at the break.

The second half belonged largely to Fosston’s offense. With only three possessions after halftime, the Greyhounds made two of them count: a 21‑yard rushing touchdown by Jaxsen Daniel, followed later by his 5‑yard touchdown reception, pushing Fosston ahead 26-13 with eight minutes remaining. Stephen‑Argyle refused to fold, answering with a 1‑yard score from Ryan Swanson and a successful two‑point conversion to pull within 26‑21. But the Storm’s comeback hopes ended when Fosston secured the onside kick and ran out the clock.

Fosston moves to 3‑1 and heads to Fertile‑Beltrami next week. Stephen‑Argyle drops to 0‑4 and will host Warren‑Alvarado‑Oslo on Friday.
