Thompson kept its hopes of a 5th consecutive Region 2B baseball title alive with a 7-4 victory over Hillsboro/Central Valley Thursday in the first Region championship game at Mayville State University.

With the win, Thompson and HCV both have one loss in the double elimination tournament.  The title will be decided Friday morning at 11 at Mayville State; the game will be broadcast on YourLiveEvent.com.

Eli Gemmill and RJ Anderson combine on a 3 hit shutout for the Tommies (16-7).  Gemmill struck out 10 with 7 walks to get the victory.  Anderson got the final out for the save.

Thompson took the lead for good in the third inning with 3 runs.  Grady Olson’s squeeze bunt scored Jeromy Tyce with the run that broke a 3-3 tie.  Olson was 2 for 4 with 2 rbi.  Gavin Oster had three hits for the Tommies.

Bryce Miller took the loss for HCV (12-8), pitching 4 2/3 innings, allowing 10 hits, 7 runs (5 earned), 4 walks with one strikeout.
