May-Port CG vs Thompson – Region 2 Baseball Tournament Elimination Game

Mayville, ND — A case of deja vu from just a day ago as Thompson takes down May-Port CG with the same score as they did yesterday, the only difference is this time the loss ends the Patriots season.

Just like yesterday Sawyer McGillis was able to drive in a run in the first inning for his Patriots this time it was with a double. Easton Hanson followed that up with an RBI of his own to make it 2-0 after the first frame. The Tommies had an immediate response though. In the top of the second inning, Mak Mikelson delivered a 2 RBI triple with 2 outs to tie it up. We stayed even at 2 until the top of the 5th. Mikelson found himself on 3rd after he singled and Dex Avdem doubled, and Mikelson was able to come home after a wild pitch to capture the lead 3-2 for the Tommies. Thompson would plate two more runs in the top of the 6th after they loaded the bases, drew a walk to bring in one and then Avdem delivered a sacrifice fly to make it 5-2. In the bottom of the 7th, Avdem came in with a runner on first after Kaden Loiland hit his pitch count limit. Avdem gave up one hit, but was able to get the last two outs and pick up the save as the Tommies advanced to the Region 2 Class B Championship Game.
