GBB Devils Lake 65, Carrington 31

Devils Lake’s defense held Carrington to 23.8 percent shooting and forced 23 turnovers as the defending Class A State champions defeated the Cardinals 65-31 to win the Region 2 Championship Thursday at Mayville State University.

With the victory, Devils Lake (20-3) returns to the Class A State Tournament next week in Minot.

Tylie Brodina scored 15 points to lead the Firebirds to their seventh straight victory.  Teammate Presley Brown added 13.

Freshman Aniston Hoornaert led Carrington (17-6) with 15 points and 6 rebounds.  Carrington will now face Kindred Saturday afternoon with a place at State on the line.

Devils Lake never trailed….leading 24-9 at the end of one quarter, 37-20 at halftime and 57-25 after three quarters.
