Max Palmer scored 22 points and his twin brother Mason added 13 points, with 9 in the fourth quarter, as Devils Lake upended Four Winds/Minnewaukan 56-48 Tuesday in the North Dakota Region 2A boys basketball playoffs at Mayville State University.
Devils Lake held a 21-10 second quarter lead with 6:44 to play before Four Winds/Minnewaukan went on a 14-4 run to finish the half trailing 25-24 at the break. Then the Indians started the third quarter on a 7-0 run to go ahead 31-25.
Then it was the Firebirds’ turn to go on a run and take a 38-32 lead after 3 quarters. The fourth quarter had 4 lead changes with Devils Lake (16-7) holding on for a victory and a berth in Thursday night’s Region 2A championship game.
Marial Deng scored 14 points for Four Winds/Minnewaukan (20-3) with Jonte Delorme adding 12. The Indians will face MayPort-CG Thursday night in the third place game.
