Thief River Falls at Fosston

Fosston, MN — The Thief River Falls Prowlers picked up their 22nd win of the season Monday night, defeating the Fosston Greyhounds in straight sets, 26-24, 25-20, 25-19.

While the final score shows a 3-0 sweep, the match was anything but easy for the Prowlers. Fosston controlled much of the opening set, building an early advantage and appearing firmly in command with a 20-13 lead. However, Thief River Falls, led by a veteran group of six seniors, never wavered. The Prowlers chipped away at the deficit, took their first lead of the set at 25-24, and completed a remarkable 13-4 run to steal the opener 26-24.

The Greyhounds once again came out strong in the second set, preventing Thief River Falls from taking its first lead until 7-6. From there, the set remained tightly contested, featuring seven ties and three lead changes. With the score knotted at 18-18, the Prowlers grabbed the lead for good and closed out the set on a 7-2 run to claim a 25-20 victory and a commanding two-set advantage.

The momentum shifted more noticeably in the third set as Thief River Falls established control early and played from ahead for most of the frame, something it had not been able to do consistently through the first two sets. Fosston stayed within striking distance, but the Prowlers put the match away with a 7-2 closing run, securing a 25-19 win and completing the three-set sweep.

Thief River Falls improves to 22-4 on the season and will host Warroad on Tuesday before wrapping up the regular season Thursday at East Grand Forks. Fosston falls to 16-9 and will travel to NCE/U-H on Tuesday before closing out its regular season Thursday at Fertile-Beltrami.
