The Fosston Greyhounds held off a late Thief River Falls rally and held on for the 54-51 win over the Prowlers Thursday night In Fosston. The Greyhounds took their first lead of the game at 33-31 with 12:19 remaining in the second half and went on a 17-4 run to build a 45-37 lead. The Greyhounds would lead by as many as ten at 51-41  but the Prowlers would score the final eight points in the game to draw to within 54-51. A last second three pointer by the Prowlers fell short and the Greyhounds were able to hang on for the win. Will Christen led Fosston with 12 points as the Greyhounds snapped a four game losing streak and improved to 10-13 overall. Mitchell Mulry added 10 points and Kelton Gray 9 points for Fosston. Jake Howard and Ryne Duppong both scored 8 points for Fosston. Bridger Wilcox led Thief River Falls with 24 points as the Prowlers had their 3 game winning streak snapped and fall to 11-8 overall. The Greyhounds struggled at the free throw line as they shot 2 of 10 at the stripe. It was the final regular season home game for the Greyhounds as they will close out the regular season with road games next Tuesday, February 25th at Goodridge/Grygla (96.7 FM) and next Friday, February 28th at Clearbrook-Gonvick (96.7 FM). The Prowlers return to action on Friday, February 21st when travel to Warroad for a Section 8AA matchup with the Warriors. Thief River Falls won the “B” Squad game over Fosston 51-40.
