Thompson 82 @ Northern Cass 75
Six Thompson players scored in double figures as the 6th ranked Tommies’ girls defeated 7th ranked Northern Cass 82-75 Thursday afternoon at Northern Cass.
The Tommies jumped to a 9-0 start and led 19-7 early. In the second quarter, Thompson stretched the lead to 45-17 before the Jaguars rallied to cut their deficit to 54-36 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Northern Cass went on a 21-3 run to get within 57-43 with 6:10 to go in the quarter. Later in the quarter, the Jaguars would get within 61-59 on a Halle Crockett three point play. The senior led Northern Cass with 37 points.
Thompson pushed back to lead 71-61 after three. In the fourth frame, Northern Cass cut the deficit to 76-74 on a Josie Jensen basket. But baskets by Brenna Martin and Clara Stevens kept the Tommies too far ahead to catch.
Kya Hurst led Thompson (6-1) with 17 points, with Olivia Dick adding 15, Stevens 13, Martin 12 and 11 apiece by Sydney Schwabe and Addison Sage.
Halle Crockett scored 37 points to lead Northern Cass (5-1) and her sister Haidyn Crockett had 16.
Northern Cass returns to action Tuesday night in a girls/boys doubleheader at home against Grafton.
Thompson’s girls are off until next Thursday, when they travel to Grafton.
