Thompson vs Park River/Fordville-Lankin – Region 2 Volleyball Tournament

For the second time this season, the Thompson Tommies edged Park River/Fordville-Lankin in four sets, doing so most recently in Monday’s ND Class B Region Two Girls Volleyball Quarterfinals: 25-21, 22-25, 25-18, 25-10.
The fourth seeded Tommies used a 6-0 run to take an 11-5 lead early in the first set. The fifth seeded Aggies battled to get within two late, but the Tommies pulled ahead in the end to take the opening frame. It looked like the Tommies were going to take a 2-0 set lead with a 20-15 lead in the second set, but the Aggies rallied emphatically, scoring ten of the last twelve points to even things up at one set a piece. Thompson regained control in the third set, using a 9-0 run midway through the set to lead 19-10. The Tommies would finish off that set, and cruise in the fourth set to claim the victory.
Andie Schwab was crucial in the third and fourth set victories for the Tommies, notching three aces in the third and four in the fourth to help the Tommies surge towards the semifinals. Schwab finished with eight total aces, along with eight kills. Kiley Huebner led the Tommies in kills with sixteen while Jordyn Tozer and Dani Gross also notched six kills each and also combined for 11.5 blocks. Lauren Bell led the Aggies in the setback with eighteen kills and five blocks.
The Tommies improve to 22-15 overall and will match up with the top seeded May-Port-C-G Patriots in Tuesday’s Semifinals. PRFL ends their season at 22-11.
