Wahpeton 62, Hillsboro-Central Valley 58

Treyton Mauch hit a three pointer with 16 seconds to play to give Wahpeton the lead and the Huskies went on to defeat Hillsboro-Central Valley 62-58 Tuesday night in Hillsboro.

Then with 9.3 seconds remaining, Wahpeton’s Jayden King tipped a Burros inbound pass and got a steal. King went on to make two free throws in the final second to seal the victory.  King led all scorers with 23 points.  Joseph Gomez added 11 points and Mauch ten as the Huskies improve to 5-1 on the season.

Jason Brandt scored 22 points for HCV (3-4).

The Burros led 26-20 at halftime and were up by ten in the third quarter before Wahpeton came back.  Hillsboro-Central Valley’s next game is Friday night at Thompson.
