Wahpeton vs Thompson

The season opener for both teams, defense was the name of the game, as Wahpeton defeats Thompson 49-44 to begin the Division A Basketball season in North Dakota.  Both coaches talked Defense as keys for success, and the offenses both struggled getting traction against the defense.  Wahpeton would rely on their two time All Region Team Senior Brayden Steffens, who scored 16 of his 20 points in the first half, to lead them to a season opening victory.  Thompson got a double double from Noah Hippen with 12 points and 12 rebounds.  Wahpeton shot 31 free throws in the game (16-31) while Thompson was 10-17.
