FB Warroad at Hawley

Hawley took advantage of 5 Warroad turnovers and defeated the Warriors 57-22 Friday night on Hawley’s Homecoming night.

Levi Lelm caught 6 passes for 116 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran 4 times for 17 yards and another score for Hawley (4-3, 4-2 in Section 8AA).  Nuggets quarterback Noah Nelson completed 13 of 19 passes for 190 yards and 3 touchdowns….and also ran 13 times for 60 yards and a TD.  Jaxon Schenck had 6 catches for 68 yards and a TD.

Warroad’s Matthew Nordine intercepted a Nelson pass on the first play from scrimmage and returned it 30 yards for a touchdown, giving the Warriors a 6-0 lead.  But Warroad lost 3 fumbles, threw 2 interceptions and also had 4 personal foul penalties that aided Hawley scoring drives.

Conner Lund rushed 17 times for 93 yards and a touchdown for Warroad (1-6, 1-5), and Liam Grover rushed 7 times for 31 yards and a Warrior TD.

Hawley finishes the regular season Wednesday at Crookston, while Warroad hosts arch-rival Roseau on Wednesday.
