#1 Ranked Warroad made the long journey to Crosby and score a 5-3 victory over #8 Northern Lakes Lightning in the regular season finale.

Warroad got off to a fast start, scoring the first three goals of the contest. Richard Rogers scored the first with Gavin Anderson netting a pair. The Lightning got one back late in the period with a power play goal from Jacob Peterson. The first period ended 3-1 with the Warriors holding a 20-8 lead in shots.

The Lightning played more aggressively to start the second period and it was even hockey the rest of the way. Each team scored a goal late in the second as Taven James put Warroad up by three again with 1:45 left in the period. Northern Lakes cut the lead to two just before heading back to the locker room as Drew Paulbeck snuck one in with only 8 seconds left in the period to make it 4-2. The Lightning outshot the Warriors 13-11.

In the third, it was back and forth the entire period. Neither team scored until Northern Lakes found a rebound goal with goalie Sam Suja pulled and there was one minute remaining. Jerome Martin had the goal to cut the lead to 4-3. Warroad capped off the win with an empty netter by Anderson who notched the hat trick with 19 seconds left in the game.

Warroad finished the regular season at 18-6-1 while the Lightning finish 16-8-1. Both are the top seed in their respective sections as they now head to playoff mode on Tuesday.
